DESCRIPTION:The Burden of Infectious Diseases Summer School will take place
  from 27 to 29 August 2025\, in Ghent\, Belgium\, and is designed to provi
 de participants with practical skills for calculating Disability-Adjusted 
 Life Years (DALYs) specifically in the context of infectious diseases. Thr
 ough a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions\, the summer school w
 ill guide participants through the concepts of Years of Life Lost (YLL) an
 d Years Lived with Disability (YLD)\, data requirements\, disease modeling
 \, and knowledge translation. Participants will apply theoretical knowledg
 e to real-world scenarios by working on a project focused on a specific in
 fectious disease\, addressing data collection\, DALY calculation\, and sta
 keholder communication. Exercises and project work will be supervised by e
 xperienced burden of disease researchers.Who should attendThis summer scho
 ol is aimed at professionals\, researchers\, and students in public health
  and related fields. A basic understanding of epidemiology is required\, a
 nd participants should be comfortable working with MS Excel. All teaching
