SUMMARY:New Approach Methodologies for Toxicology
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The course New Approach Methodologies for Toxicology\, offered
by PET (Postgraduate Education in Toxicology)\, will take place at Wagenin
 gen\, Netherlands\, from 14 to 18 December 2026. It provides a focused int
roduction to the use of non-animal methods in chemical risk assessment. It
explores how New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) can be applied to assess t
he toxicity of chemicals and integrated into next generation risk assessme
nt (NGRA) frameworks. Through lectures\, tutorials\, and an individual cas
e study\, participants develop the ability to select appropriate methodolo
gies for different chemical types\, understand the opportunities and chall
enges of integrating NAMs into regulatory toxicology\, and apply these app
roaches in their own field of work. The course also addresses the ethical
and societal drivers behind the transition away from animal testing and su
pports participants in developing and evaluating a NAMs-based risk assessm
ent approach.Target AudienceThe course is intended for students\, research
ers\, and professionals in toxicology\, risk assessment\, and related fiel
ds who seek to develop knowledge on alternative methods to animal testing
and their application in modern chemical safety assessment.
