SUMMARY:High Performance R
CLASS:PUBLIC
DESCRIPTION:The Using R Efficiently in a High Performance Computing Environ
ment course will be offered in a hybrid format\, with participants able to
attend on-site at the CSC Training Facilities in Espoo\, Finland\, or onl
ine via Zoom. This two-day course will focus on improving the efficiency o
f R analyses and making effective use of available computing resources. Pa
rticipants will learn how to identify performance bottlenecks through benc
hmarking and profiling\, optimise R code based on the properties of the pr
ogramming language\, and manage memory and computing resources more effect
ively. The course will also introduce parallel and distributed computing w
ith R\, including the use of local and supercomputing resources. Short lec
tures and demonstrations will be complemented by hands-on exercises using
RStudio and Roihu\, enabling participants to develop practical skills for
analysing performance bottlenecks\, managing computing resources\, and spe
eding up R analyses.&nbsp\;Target audienceThis course is particularly rele
vant for researchers and professionals who are already familiar with the b
asics of R and wish to improve the efficiency of their analyses or learn h
ow to use R in a high-performance computing environment. Participants shou
ld have previous experience with basic R tasks such as data manipulation\,
plotting\, or statistical analysis. Basic knowledge of Linux and previous
experience with supercomputing environments are useful but not required.
