Mapping and Assessing Plastic Chemicals for a Sustainable Future
The SafePlastChem ↗ Conference brings together experts from academia, research institutes, industry and regulatory bodies to explore current knowledge on plastic chemicals - including their environmental fate, health risks, analytical challenges and approaches for sustainable management. The conference aims to support a science-based roadmap toward safer and more sustainable plastics, aligned with global efforts to advance circular economy principles.
Participants will engage with sessions on the occurrence and exposure of plastics chemicals in the environment and humans, health and ecological effects, analytical and technological challenges, risk and sustainability assessment, industry innovation including Safe and Sustainable by Design, and policies for control and management of plastic-associated chemicals.
PARC will be represented by:
- Olwenn Martin ↗ (University College London ↗) with the presentation "Mapping the regulatory landscape of plastic additives across their lifecycle",
- Lisa Marina Reinhardt ↗ (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam ↗), with the presentation “Ensuring Consumer Safety in Plastic Articles: Identification of Plastic Additives via DART-timsTOF-MS and LC-timsTOF-MS”. This contribution highlights PARC’s work on advancing analytical approaches to characterize plastic additives and support consumer safety assessments.
