Plastics2026 - A Global Symposium on Plastics and Human Health
Plastics2026 ↗ is a global symposium focusing on the human health implications of plastics throughout their lifecycle - from production and use to degradation and environmental release. The conference brings together scientists, clinicians, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss emerging evidence on human exposure to plastics and plastic-associated chemicals, and to advance strategies for understanding and mitigating related health risks.
Plastics2026 features sessions on analytics - innovative detection and characterisation methods for plastics and plastic-associated chemicals; exposure - understanding human contact with plastics; toxicology - health effects of plastics and related chemicals; risk & epidemiology - linking exposures to health outcomes; inventory - cataloguing chemicals for monitoring and assessment; and regulation & policy - frameworks guiding plastics safety and mitigation.
PARC will be represented by Hubert Dirven ↗ (Norwegian Institute of Public Health ↗), who will present the communication: “Hazard Identification and Characterization of Leachable Chemicals from Plastic Products – a New PARC Project”.
This presentation highlights PARC’s work on identifying and characterising chemicals that can leach from plastic products and potentially impact human health, supporting improved exposure assessment and risk management.
