Quantitative Exposure Assessment in Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology
The course on Quantitative Exposure Assessment in Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology took place from 26 to 31 October 2025 in Sønderborg, Denmark. The course was designed to equip participants with the skills to critically appraise relevant literature and conduct basic exposure assessments independently. The programme included interactive lectures, group exercises, and participant presentations, and was conducted in English. Emphasis was placed on both theoretical understanding and practical application of key concepts, including exposure variability, bias and random error, and the use of Job Exposure Matrices (JEMs). Participants also learned to assess and interpret different exposure metrics in epidemiological studies.
Target audience
This course was intended for PhD students and postgraduate research fellows in epidemiology, occupational or environmental health, and related disciplines. Familiarity with logistic and linear regression and practical experience using STATA or R was expected.
