Introduction to the Environmental Safety of Cosmetics in the EU
The Introduction to the Environmental Safety of Cosmetics in the EU course will take place from September 16 to 19, 2025, in Brussels, Belgium, and will provide a structured and in-depth introduction to the evolving regulatory and scientific landscape governing the environmental assessment of cosmetic ingredients in the EU. With environmental concerns gaining increasing prominence under the EU Green Deal, this course is designed to equip participants with a solid understanding of key regulatory frameworks, risk assessment principles, and current scientific approaches relevant to the cosmetic sector. Through expert-led lectures, participants will explore environmental exposure assessment, hazard evaluation, the integration of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), and the environmental impact of cosmetic ingredients on aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity.
In addition to the theoretical component, the course includes a hands-on practical session focused on environmental case studies, allowing participants to apply the concepts learned. On the final day, attendees will have the opportunity to complete an open-book written exam. Successful candidates will receive a formal certificate issued by VUB.
