Endocrine disruptors - identification and assessment
The Institute of Environmental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet offers a course titled "Endocrine disruptors-identification and assessment" between 17-21 February 2025.
The course is intended for PhD students and other participants from academia as well as participants from authorities and industry.
Course content: Endocrine disruptors are external substances or mixtures that interfere with the endocrine system, leading to negative health outcomes in organisms or populations. These disruptors influence hormone receptors and hormone levels, and are linked to several endocrine-related diseases.
The course covers:
- The molecular mechanisms of endocrine disruptors, from their initial molecular interactions to their adverse effects.
- Techniques and methodologies for identifying and analyzing endocrine disruptors.
- EU criteria for identifying these disruptors, alongside future challenges in their identification and assessment.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the molecular mechanisms and potential adverse effects of endocrine disruptors.
- Explain methodologies used to study these disruptors.
- Apply EU scientific criteria and guidance to identify endocrine disruptors.
- Identify and discuss the challenges in their identification and assessment.
Application deadline is 13 December 2024. Accepted participants will be notified after the application deadline.
