The online course on Causal Inference for Assessing Effectiveness in Real World Data and Clinical Trials was held from 18 to 22 March 2024 as a five-day certified university course. Using real-world case examples from different health technologies and disease areas, participants explored theoretical foundations as well as practical applications of causal inference. The course also included software-based exercises in Stata and R.

Target audience
The course was designed for professionals from healthcare and health policy organisations, national HTA and regulatory agencies, the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, academia and research institutions, health insurances and sickness funds, and consultancy organisations. It required basic knowledge of biostatistics and familiarity with Stata and R, or a willingness to learn.
