Statistical Methods in Life Sciences
The Statistical Methods in Life Sciences course will take place from 9 to 13 March 2026 in Uppsala, Sweden. Organised by NBIS, this hands-on course introduces core statistical methods for life science research, with real-world examples and active learning formats including lectures, coding sessions, and group exercises. Participants will explore key topics such as probability, sampling, and distributions for biological data, sampling variability and resampling, multivariate data analysis, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing, linear and mixed-effect models and survival analysis.
The course is taught using R and is designed to build both conceptual understanding and applied skills in statistical analysis.
Target audience
This course is particularly suited for PhD students, postdocs, and researchers in the life sciences with basic R programming skills.
