Boost your skills in ecotoxicology at the University of Aveiro
As part of PARC’s efforts to build research capacity and promote collaboration, the University of Aveiro (Campus de Santiago, 3810-193 Aveiro, Portugal) is offering a staff exchange opportunity through its Department of Biology, to work under the supervision of Prof. Susana Loureiro ↗.
This short-term training (1-3 months; between September and May) is designed for researchers and professionals with BSc or MSc in Biology, or any related scientific area (postdocs are also possible), seeking hands-on experience in ecotoxicology.
More specifically, participants will have the opportunity to:
• Acquire practical experience in conducting ecotoxicological assays using aquatic and soil organisms, following ISO or OECD guidelines, as well as adapted methodologies;
• Gain field experience through soil monitoring activities in real-world conditions or in mesocosms (depending on timing);
• Learn and apply mercury (Hg) measurement techniques using atomic absorption spectrometry following thermal decomposition of environmental samples.
The laboratory offers a dynamic environment with ongoing national and international projects and a wide range of test systems, including algae, plants, and aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. This exchange provides a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills, and expand professional networks.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the PARC staff exchange process and eligibility criteria here before expressing their interest. For further information or to apply for this training opportunity, please contact carla [dot] trindade
