Health and Environment Alliance webinar: Impacts of early life PFAS exposure
The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) hosted a webinar on Impacts of Early-Life PFAS Exposure on 14 November 2024. The event focused on the long-term health effects of exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals,” which persist in the environment and are present in consumer products such as food packaging, non-stick cookware, and cosmetics. The program featured Dr. Nikos Stratakis (ISGlobal, ATHLETE project), who shared insights into the link between early-life PFAS exposure and childhood metabolic health, drawing on scientific evidence that connects PFAS to cancer, immune dysfunction, hormone disruption, and metabolic diseases. This webinar was the second in a HEAL series aimed at raising awareness and improving access to the latest scientific findings on PFAS and health.
Target audience
The webinar was particularly relevant for researchers, policymakers, health professionals, and advocates interested in environmental health, children’s health, and chemical risk prevention.
