SSbD toolbox

Join the workshop launching the alpha version of the PARC SSbD toolbox

The European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC) is pleased to announce a dedicated online workshop to mark the alpha release of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) toolbox. The event will take place on 3 July 2025 and will introduce the toolbox’s key features, provide a live walkthrough, and offer participants the opportunity to give feedback that will shape future developments.

The PARC SSbD toolbox is being developed to turn the European Commission’s SSbD framework into practical support for researchers, regulators, innovators, and policymakers. Since the initial testing version launched in May 2024, the toolbox has undergone a full year of development and refinement. The alpha version is a major step forward in making the framework actionable.

The toolbox includes a structured inventory of tools, including models, methods, algorithms and databases, to support SSbD assessments and redesign processes. One of its core features is the SSbD Wizard, which provides step-by-step guidance tailored to different levels of data availability and specific user needs. The toolbox is also aligned with commercial development stages, helping integrate SSbD principles early in the innovation process.

The upcoming workshop will offer a practical introduction to using the toolbox and its current functionalities. It also serves as a forum for users to provide input, ensuring that the toolbox evolves in line with stakeholder needs.

The workshop will be held online. You can register for the event here.

To explore the SSbD toolbox, users are encouraged to create an account here. Feedback can be submitted directly through the platform to support ongoing development.

Stay tuned as PARC continues to build and improve the toolbox in collaboration with its growing community of users.
