Systems Biology: From Large Datasets to Biological Insight
The Systems Biology: From Large Datasets to Biological Insight course was held at the European Bioinformatics Institute, United Kingdom, from 10 to 14 June 2024. The five-day program focused on the use of computational tools to extract meaningful biological insights from omics datasets. Participants explored a wide range of approaches, including data integration, network inference, machine learning, and logic modelling. Together, these techniques equipped attendees with a toolkit for designing new strategies to interpret large-scale biological data and apply these methods in their own research.
Target audience
The course was designed for advanced PhD students, post-doctoral researchers, and non-academic scientists working with large-scale omics datasets to investigate biological function and processes. Applicants were expected to have one to two years of experience in systems biology or related multi-omics data analyses, alongside working knowledge of Linux and the command line. Experience with Python or similar programming languages was highly desirable.
