SYNnet Events

Through SYNnet events, PARC works towards building closer collaboration with relevant stakeholders. These events are organised in two main formats:

SYNnet Fora

SYNnet Fora are meetings organised back-to-back with major scientific meetings, aimed at showcasing PARC’s ongoing research and engaging external researchers. Their objective is to promote the establishment of synergies between PARC and external entities or projects. To date, three SYNnet Fora have been held alongside conferences of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC ↗), the European Environmental Mutagenesis & Genomics Society (EEMGS ↗) and the Federation of European Toxicologists & European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX ↗).

First PARC SYNnet Forum, held as a parallel session at the SETAC Europe 2024 Annual Meeting on 6 May 2024 in Seville, Spain, bringing together PARC researchers and the wider environmental toxicology community.

Second PARC SYNnet Forum, held as a session at the European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society’s (EEMGS) Conference on 26 September 2024 in Rovinj, Croatia, providing an opportunity to exchange on common research interests and potential synergies.

Third PARC SYNnet Forum, held as a parallel session at the EUROTOX 2025 meeting on 17 September 2025 in Athens, Greece, focusing on opportunities to strengthen collaboration between PARC and the toxicology community.

SYNnet Workshops

SYNnet Workshops are dedicated sessions that bring together researchers from PARC and external initiatives. They provide a platform for external initiatives/projects to present their activities, enabling discussion and exploration of concrete collaboration opportunities. Four SYNnet Workshops have taken place so far – one during a PARC consortium meeting and three online.

First PARC SYNnet Workshop, held during the PARC Consortium Meeting in Hall in Tirol, Austria, in May 2024. The workshop brought together representatives of several European initiatives and clusters, including Biodiversa+ ↗, ASPIS ↗, NORMAN ↗, EURION ↗ and EPAA ↗, to explore potential synergies and opportunities for collaboration with PARC.

Second PARC SYNnet Workshop on Synergies with External Initiatives, held online on 27 November 2024, brought together projects from the ENKORE ↗ and Green Deal ↗ clusters. The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange on endocrine-disrupting chemicals, the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability and related research priorities, while identifying opportunities for collaboration and avoiding duplication of efforts.

Third PARC SYNnet Workshop on Synergies with External Initiatives: Advancing synergies between PARC and the IDEAL Cluster ↗, held online on 7 May 2025, brought together PARC researchers and projects from the IDEAL Cluster working on air quality and related health impacts. The workshop identified common ground and complementary approaches, as well as concrete opportunities for collaboration, including joint work, coordination and exchange of protocols and guidelines.

Fourth PARC SYNnet Workshop on Synergies with External Initiatives: Advancing synergies between PARC and the ExpoHealthNet Cluster ↗, held online on 19 November 2025, brought together PARC experts and five Horizon Europe projects from the ExpoHealthNet Cluster. Discussions focused on environmental exposures and health effects, FAIR data, new approach methodologies (NAMs), knowledge sharing and opportunities for joint policy recommendations.
