Workshop on Human Biomonitoring
The 5th Workshop on Human Biomonitoring in Portugal (5th HBM-PT) ↗ will take place in a hybrid format, with onsite participation at the headquarters of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and online participation. The workshop will focus on the contribution of human biomonitoring to advancing next-generation risk assessment and will bring together researchers, experts in environmental and occupational health, regulators, representatives of the chemical industry, and other stakeholders.
The event will provide a platform to discuss how human biomonitoring can support health and environmental policies, strengthen evidence for human health risk assessment, and contribute to improved prevention and protection strategies. The scientific programme will include oral communications and poster presentations, promoting the exchange of knowledge, methods, and research findings among participants.
The 5th HBM-PT will have contributions from the PARC Portuguese National Hub (APA as Contact Point), bringing together the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA ↗), the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT ↗), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL ↗), the Directorate-General of Health (DGS ↗), the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon (ENSP ↗), the University of Coimbra (UC ↗), the University of Aveiro (UA ↗), the University of Minho (UM ↗), and the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB ↗).
Original contributions for oral communications and posters are welcome until 18 September 2026. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required by 10 October 2026.
The 5th HBM-PT offers an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration among institutions and stakeholders working on human biomonitoring, while contributing to PARC’s wider ambition to improve chemical risk assessment and protect human health and the environment.
