The course Absolute Environmental Sustainability Assessment of Production and Consumption in a Systems Perspective, offered by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), will take place 17–21 August 2026 at Campus Lyngby. It combines in-person teaching with follow-up activities, including a poster assignment and online presentation sessions after the course.

This is a PhD-level course introducing methods to evaluate environmental impacts in relation to global sustainability limits. It focuses on moving beyond relative comparisons to assess whether products, systems, or organisations operate within absolute environmental boundaries. Through lectures, exercises, and participant-driven case studies, the course equips participants with practical skills to apply life cycle thinking, allocate environmental carrying capacities, and interpret results to support evidence-based sustainability decision-making.

Target Audience
The course is intended for PhD students and professionals with prior knowledge of life cycle assessment who seek to advance their understanding of sustainability assessment from a systems and absolute perspective.
