The Workshop on Implementing the EC Roadmap on Phasing Out Animal Testing in Pesticides and Biocides will take place on 21 and 22 October 2026 in Parma, Italy. The workshop will present ongoing activities by EFSA and ECHA supporting the implementation of the European Commission’s Roadmap towards phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments. It will explore the challenges and opportunities associated with the broader implementation of non-animal approaches in pesticide and biocide safety assessment, with particular emphasis on the application of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). Through targeted discussions, panel sessions, and parallel sessions, participants will exchange perspectives on the scientific and regulatory actions needed to advance the transition towards animal-free safety assessment.
