Trainings
Introduction to Statistics and Data Visualisation with R
The Introduction to Statistics and Data Visualisation with R course will be held from 26 to 29 January 2026 at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. This four-day, in-person training is designed to provide researchers in the biomedical sciences with hands-on experience in applying core statistical techniques using the R programming language. Through a combination of lectures and practical exercises, participants will learn how to interpret and visualise data, apply key statistical tests, and explore more advanced methods relevant to real-world biological datasets.
Topics include numerical and graphical summaries, hypothesis testing, multiple testing correction, linear models, correlation and regression analysis, as well as dimensionality reduction techniques such as principal component analysis, heatmaps, and introductory clustering algorithms. Participants will also have the opportunity to bring and discuss their own datasets for tailored guidance.
Target audience
This course is particularly suited for biologists and biomedical researchers who are required to perform statistical analyses using R. No advanced statistical background is required, but basic familiarity with R is recommended.
