Two PARC-Affiliated Researchers Recognised

Two PARC-affiliated early-career researchers recognised with major toxicology awards

Three early-career researchers collaborating with PARC have recently been honoured at important scientific meetings in the field of toxicology. Their achievements highlight both the quality of their work and the value of international cooperation in advancing research that protects human health.

Sebastian Gutsfeld, a PhD researcher working in the group of Prof. Dr. Tamara Tal at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), received the Pfizer Graduate Fellowship Award at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology (SOT). The SOT is a leading international organisation dedicated to promoting research and education in toxicology, and its student awards recognise promising contributions to the field. This is not the first time Sebastian has been acknowledged by the SOT. He previously received the Carl C. Smith Graduate Student Award from the organisation in 2023, underlining the continued excellence of his work in toxicology.

Also, from Prof. Dr. Tal’s group at the UFZ, Dr. David Leuthold received SOT’s Best Postdoctoral Publication Award for his PARC research developing a new test method for developmental neurotoxicity.

Marla Dubau, also working within the PARC community, was recognised by the Gesellschaft für Toxikologie und Pharmakologie (GPTS), further demonstrating the strength and diversity of emerging scientific talent contributing to the programme’s research efforts.

These distinctions reflect the growing impact of young scientists engaged in PARC-related research and reinforce the programme’s commitment to supporting innovative approaches and fostering the next generation of experts in environmental and human health protection.

PARC warmly congratulates both Sebastian and Marla for their achievements.
