A new central portal is now available to support the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) community with practical resources, expert guidance, and opportunities for collaboration. The SSbD knowledge sharing portal, just launched by the European Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals (PARC), provides access to tools, educational materials, and a dedicated space for knowledge exchange among stakeholders.

The portal was developed based on extensive input from stakeholders across Europe. A survey conducted within the SSbD community identified concrete gaps and needs in information, education, and training, which directly shaped the portal’s structure and content.

The SSbD knowledge sharing portal is more than just a resource library – it’s a practical entry point for accessing the tools, guidance, and educational materials needed to support safe and sustainable innovation across Europe, highlighted Jaco Westra from RIVM.

Through the portal, users can find important announcements on SSbD, access tools that support the implementation of SSbD principles, and explore links to educational materials aimed at building knowledge and expertise. Additionally, the portal offers a direct connection to the SSbD user community via PARCopedia ↗, allowing individuals to share insights, exchange ideas, and connect with peers in a collaborative environment.

We listened carefully to stakeholders to ensure this portal reflects their real needs, from practical tools to educational materials. It’s a platform created with the community, for the community and we believe that the portal is just the beginning. Its real value will come from active engagement – the more users share, contribute, and connect, the stronger the SSbD community will become, said Doris Völker from UBA.
