The 14^th International Conference on Environmental Mutagens (ICEM 2026 ↗) will bring together scientists working in environmental mutagenesis, genomics, toxicology, regulatory science and related fields to discuss emerging approaches for understanding and preventing damage to the genome. The conference will be held under the theme “Blending new technology with traditional genotoxicity approaches to solve real world problems.” The scientific programme will combine new technologies with established genotoxicity approaches, with particular attention to mechanistic understanding of genome threats, innovative in vitro models, artificial intelligence and novel bioinformatics platforms. 

PARC will have a strong presence at ICEM 2026 through the organisation of a SYNnet Forum dedicated to “Next Generation Biomonitoring for New Occupational Exposures”. The Forum will contribute to strengthening synergies between PARC and external entities and research projects, fostering collaboration around emerging occupational exposure challenges. Invited speaker Maria João Silva ↗(Portuguese National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge – INSA ↗, Portugal) will present the communication “Beyond Exposure Assessment: The Value of Effect Biomarkers to Assess Occupational Risks”, highlighting the contribution of effect biomarkers to a more comprehensive understanding of occupational health risks. 

Several other PARC collaborators will also contribute to the scientific programme. Tim Ravnjak ↗ (National Institute of Biology - NIB ↗, Slovenia) will present “Transcriptomic signatures of non-genotoxic carcinogens in HepG2 3D spheroids: toward exploratory biomarker identification”. Célia Ventura ↗ (Portuguese National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge - INSA ↗, Portugal) will present “Genotoxicity Assessment of Alternaria Mycotoxins in Human HepG2 Liver Cells”. Amaya Azqueta ↗ (Universidad de Navarra - UNAV ↗, Spain) will present “In Vitro Approaches to Detect Non-Genotoxic Carcinogens: Insights from CTA and GILA Assays”.
