Trainings
High Performance R
The Using R Efficiently in a High Performance Computing Environment course will be offered in a hybrid format, with participants able to attend on-site at the CSC Training Facilities in Espoo, Finland, or online via Zoom. This two-day course will focus on improving the efficiency of R analyses and making effective use of available computing resources. Participants will learn how to identify performance bottlenecks through benchmarking and profiling, optimise R code based on the properties of the programming language, and manage memory and computing resources more effectively. The course will also introduce parallel and distributed computing with R, including the use of local and supercomputing resources. Short lectures and demonstrations will be complemented by hands-on exercises using RStudio and Roihu, enabling participants to develop practical skills for analysing performance bottlenecks, managing computing resources, and speeding up R analyses.
Target audience
This course is particularly relevant for researchers and professionals who are already familiar with the basics of R and wish to improve the efficiency of their analyses or learn how to use R in a high-performance computing environment. Participants should have previous experience with basic R tasks such as data manipulation, plotting, or statistical analysis. Basic knowledge of Linux and previous experience with supercomputing environments are useful but not required.
